About sharemd.net

sharemd.net exists so that a piece of markdown can go from your clipboard to someone else’s screen, rendered, in the time it takes to paste. It is built on four principles: speed, no account, documents that expire, and no AI processing of what you write.

Why it exists

More and more of what people share at work is markdown: answers from AI assistants, files written by coding agents, notes, drafts, changelogs. It is written to be read, but the places it usually goes, such as chat tools and email, show it as raw symbols, and the tools that render it well ask for an account, a workspace and a decision about where the document should live.

Most of that text does not need a home. It needs to be read by a few people this week. sharemd.net is the tool for that case and does not try to be more. For a plain definition of the product, see what is sharemd.net.

Principles

Speed. Opening sharemd.net opens the editor. There is no landing page in front of it and nothing to configure. Paste, check the preview, select Share.

No account. Creating, editing, sharing, reading and exporting work without signup, and it is free. The reader does not need anything either; the link opens in a browser.

Expiry by default. Documents expire 15 days after creation, and their content is deleted automatically. Most shared text matters for days, and a system that forgets on its own holds less for less time. The longer argument is in why ephemeral documents.

No AI processing of your content. Nothing you paste is summarized, translated or rewritten by AI. The document is stored and shown as you wrote it.

What it does today

It does not have accounts, comments, version history or real-time collaboration. The FAQ covers the common questions about how it works.
