What Is sharemd.net?

sharemd.net is a free web tool for writing or pasting markdown and sharing it as a link that renders the document, with no account; shared documents expire automatically 15 days after they are created.

What it is. A markdown editor and viewer at sharemd.net. Opening the site opens the editor directly. The editor has Editor, Preview and Split views.

What it does. It renders markdown: CommonMark plus tables, strikethrough, task lists, footnotes, heading anchors, an automatic table of contents for documents with three or more headings, code highlighting for 13 languages, Mermaid diagrams and KaTeX math. Pressing Share creates the document and returns two links: a read-only link and a write link that lets anyone who has it edit.

Ways to share. The read link itself, an embed code (an iframe of the read view) and a QR code. Links pasted into Slack, Discord, X or LinkedIn show a preview with the document title, a short description and a sharemd.net card.

Who it is for. People who need someone else to read a markdown document: developers, technical writers, and anyone sharing the output of an AI model or coding agent. It works the same for output from any model.

Cost and accounts. Free. No account and no signup are needed to create, edit, share, read or export a document.

How long documents last. 15 days from creation. After that the content is deleted automatically and the link shows a page saying the document expired. A badge shows the days left.

Visibility. Shared documents are not indexed by search engines. They are reachable only by whoever has the link, and anyone with the link can read them.

Export. The original markdown as .md, a self-contained .html file, or Copy Formatted to paste the rendered text into email, docs or chat tools. In the .html export, code is not syntax-highlighted and Mermaid diagrams and math stay as source.

AI processing. None. sharemd.net does not summarize, translate or rewrite content.

Limits. The maximum document size is 500 KB. Raw HTML inside markdown is not rendered.

What it does not do

As of 2026-10-09, sharemd.net does not offer accounts, comments, read statistics, password protection, version history, custom URLs, real-time collaboration, PDF export or a public API. There is no way to delete a document before it expires, extend its life or revoke the write link.
